Sainfoin from myPellis - Pellets & Cobs - Esparsette from myPellis - Pellets & Cobs (Premium)

Sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia) from myPellis is a natural straight feed for horses, rabbits, sheep, goats, alpacas and other herbivores. The forage plant is known for its high crude fiber content and its valuable secondary plant substances - especially tannins, which are traditionally valued in animal feed. Our sainfoin is particularly suitable for sensitive animals and for anyone who prefers a natural, grain-free diet.

Advantages of myPellis sainfoin (pellets & cobs)
100% pure sainfoin - straight feed, without additives or binders
Grain-free, molasses-free and free from genetic engineering
Rich in crude fiber - supports natural digestion
Low in dust and aromatic
Gently dried and processed - tasty
Regional and sustainably packaged

Pellets or cobs - briefly explained

Both forms consist of 100 % sainfoin in identical myPellis premium quality. The only difference is the structure:

Pellets have a diameter of 6 mm and are compactly pressed.
Cobs are coarser in structure and have a diameter of approx. 8-9 mm and for a short time as 14 mm cobs.
Pellets or cobs - which type is better?
Pellets (6 mm)
compact, uniform structure
easy to dose
are soaked before feeding
Cobs (approx. 8-14 mm)
more structured, coarser form
promote longer feeding time and more chewing activity
are soaked before feeding

⚠️ Important note on feeding:
Esparsette pellets and cobs must always be fed soaked. Before feeding, they must be completely swollen and soft so that there are no hard components left. Dry feeding is not recommended.

Feeding recommendation

The soaking time required depends on the type of structure, amount of water and water temperature. Only feed when the food is evenly soft.

Guide values for daily feeding
Horses: approx. 100-500 g per 100 kg body weight
Small animals (e.g. rabbits, guinea pigs): as required, combine with roughage if necessary
Sheep, goats, alpacas: approx. 200-600 g per animal per day

The actual amount of feed depends on the type of animal, weight, husbandry and individual requirements.

Frequently asked questions about sainfoin from myPellis (FAQ)
Why do sainfoin pellets and cobs always have to be soaked?

Pellets and cobs are compressed and absorb water when soaked. Complete soaking makes them soft and therefore safer and easier to digest. Dry feeding is not recommended.

What is the difference between sainfoin pellets and sainfoin cobs?

The difference lies exclusively in the structure: pellets are compactly pressed (6 mm diameter), cobs have a coarser structure (approx. 8-14 mm diameter). The composition is identical - 100 % sainfoin.
