Icelandic Mare with a Stunning Appearance - Auðna is a 7-year-old, stunningly beautiful gray mare. She is a five-gaited horse, stands 1.35 meters tall, has a very beautiful, sturdy conformation, and covers the ground well.
She has been ridden in three gaits so far, is familiar with the riding arena, and goes out on trail rides both alone and in a group. She is used to being led by hand or leading another horse herself. She is very sweet to handle. She also shows enthusiasm for groundwork, circus exercises, and free work.
Auðna is a rather sensitive horse and therefore not suitable for beginners. Anyone who likes this type of horse and is confident and consistent themselves will have a lot of fun with her and can do anything with her. She has a medium temperament and loves to move, yet she is always controllable. She is very intelligent, learns quickly, and wants to do everything right, but she needs patience and a consistent routine. For an empathetic rider, she’ll be a partner for life.
I’m only giving her up because, unfortunately, she gains weight too easily in my setup (24/7 pasture in the summer and year-round meadow trails). She would certainly feel more comfortable in a nice open stable with limited pasture access. In the herd, she tends to be lower in the pecking order—or somewhere in the middle—and is generally easygoing.
She is likely not suitable for breeding, as she has not conceived while with me.
She has never been sick during the past 5 years with me, is completely unfazed by insects of any kind, has no eczema, and has no allergies. She goes barefoot without any problems and is well-behaved at the farrier’s and when being loaded
